Summer is Festival Time in Down East Maine

The area holds many wonderful community events that draw large
crowds every year:  Outdoor concerts, local theater productions,
kayaking tours, schooner tours of the many bay areas and islands to
view puffins.  Take a guided trip aboard a lobster boat with a
seasoned lobsterman, meander along botanical walks, or hike
adventurous coastal trails.  When you come to Washington County
you will undoubtedly find something you will enjoy doing.  What
you will learn is the history of an area time has left behind and
what you will come to appreciate is the wonderful community spirit
that abounds the very shores it's built on.  While you're here you
might want to venture into our quaint communities and sample the
local flavor of our"downeast" heritage, visit with many fine
artisans, taste our local fare and get to experience an authentic part
